@Elodie dance fitness
I am Elodie, and I will be your host and instructor on this event.
Movement has always been an important part of my life.
I am a trained dancer and performed for many years on cruise ships and cabaret shows in Paris.
I started my fitness journey in 2017, after I became a mom: maternity transformed my body and even though I was very happy with motherhood, I wanted to get my physique and strength back.
I found out that not only it all came back but I got even better than before. I also found out that movement could change my mindset and overall perspective on life, for the better.
So I decided to study for my certifications and started teaching.
I now have been a full time Fitness Instructor and Yoga Teacher. for 4 years.
I don't believe in 'no pain no gain', I believe in mindfulness and fun, creative sessions, igniting curiosity and consistency and encouraging people to pursue their movement journey while learning to love it.
I am sharing with passion what I have learned through my education, but also the experience I have acquired through my practice, and consistently exploring new methods to help my students progress and feel better.
I also believe in connection and building a sense of community in my classes, therefore I feel more comfortable teaching small groups rather than big crowds.
I currently teach Yoga, Barre, Cardio Dance, Total Body conditioning , Pilates and Stretch.
Mobility, stability, coordination and strength work together and are necessary to become better movers.

Throughout the years I had the opportunity to teach many different population, in many different settings: from Juvenile delinquent centers to high end private gyms, senior homes, franchised gyms and corporate... These experiences allowed me to understand better the different needs of each individual and I make it a point for everyone to feel seen and acknowledged in my class.

I also spent my childhood travelling, living 6 years in India (where I started Yoga with Purnapreema, the grand-daughter of Mira Alfassa), in Algeria , visited Asia, America, Australia... I moved back to France where I am from as a teen and moved to the US in my early 30's.
When I first arrived to NY, I worked in the hospitality industry where I learned customer service skills, so I decided to combine my experiences in travels, tourism (as a dancer on cruise ships) and movement (my main field of expertise) to create this retreat for my students.
The idea is to take your practice outside a studio or gym setting, spend more time on concepts that we don't always have the time to cover when we meet weekly, and, of course to share a piece of my culture with you.
If you haven't taken my classes but would like to give it a try before signing up I have open classes at Crunch (Manhattan) and the Ridgewood Queens YMCA.

Thank you for reading, and see you in class!
